- By Ron Gluckman, an American reporter who researched this story during a trip to Dubai & many other UAE states in '92. The report was soundly criticized by UAE officials as was a BBC documentary that followed. However, the facts were not repudiated. In '93, the UAE banned the use of child jockeys, but the law is widely ignored. In mid-'99, authorities rescued many children from the camel racing circuit, including one who started after being smuggled from Pakistan as a 5-year-old.
